DVB-H Austria

Just in time for the European Football Championship EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, the austrian mobile network operators mobilkom austria, 3 and orange have launched the mobile TV service in Austria. This DVB-H service features 15 domestic and international TV channels and 5 radio channels.

The headend, operated by MEDIA BROADCAST, is equipped with a castLabs mobile TV service delivery platform, which provides ESG management, offer management and the conditional access system in a carrier grade high availability environment. Other components include technology from GMIT and the Heinrich-Hertz-Institut.

The system features a seamless integration of DVB-H broadcasting technology and multiple backend systems of different mobile network operators. And as the world's first platform, it combines OMA BCAST DRM and SmartCard Profile in the conditional access module.
